Fareed Zakaria. Fareed Zakaria. Fareed Rafiq Zakaria (/fəˈriːd zəˈkɑriə/; born 20 January 1964) is an Indian-American journalist. Zakaria was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, to Rafiq Zakaria and Fatima Zakaria. Zakaria earned his Bachelor of Arts from Yale University. Zakaria has been nominated five times for the National Magazine Award.
